WHAT IS HOUSE MUSIC..?

House music is “the most danceable music” says the legendary dj/musician/producer Louie Vega – from Masters At Work – & I tend to agree with him 100%..!

However, countless of debates are being sparked daily amongst people in the community & some industry heads, in regards to a big, ongoing & somewhat annoying issue that we are experiencing worldwide & that is, the miseducation of the public… Unfortunately the vast sub-genres within House music are constantly being misrepresented by various unreliable media sources & certain individuals in higher places, who either don’t have the required knowledge to rightfully present artists & music-projects to consumers or simply & perhaps ignorantly mislead the masses due to their support for specific causes, which offer lucrative benefits…

House music is so diverse with dozens of sub-genres & – in my humble opinion – there’s no reason to hate on people who have different taste(s) &/or speak negatively about artists who create different styles of work & support different scenes… The real & only issue lies with those who mislead the masses &/or don’t state things the way they are..!

A friendly message to all artists out there (djs, musicians, producers, singers & songwriters) – in particular those within the electronic dance music culture – whether you choose to stay true to your form & musical-roots or perhaps be versatile across the board or even change direction, become relevant to today’s trends & crossover to mainstream, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that…

Let’s just set the record straight here, there’s no such thing as ‘selling out’ – especially if you’re doing what you’re doing for a living, you don’t receive adequate support from a particular music scene on it’s own or you simply happen to meet widespread success & need to also cater now for other requirements..! Being persistent & pure on one hand or innovative on the other, are both aspects of positive nature but the most important attributes, are being truthful to & about your craft & of course being honest, humble & respectful towards others – including fans, fellow artists, industry & members of the public – then they’ll appreciate & respect you too…

You can never buy respect & you can never please everyone but you can always try & do the right thing by others & of course, be open minded – it’s all about evolution & growth..! Do your bit & help educate the public – don’t go with the flow… Always state what you represent clearly & be persistent that others within the industry present & promote your work correctly – so that people & more so kids these days can simply identify who exactly they’re following &/or what they’re into…

Music lovers out there, checkout the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_music, read up & start understanding what you’re listening to – don’t just follow trends & take what you’re being served without knowing what it is – learn to differentiate & appreciate the art..! Knowledge is the key & music is the answer – peace & music-beats – God Bless d(-_-)b x
